This Canto vividly describes the place where Savitri is destined to meet Satyavan who has been chosen by Destiny to be Savitri’s partner and mate. The perfect stage is being set for the perfect meeting between the eternal Lord and His eternal Spouse. Though to the outward eye it may look random yet nothing is really random. The place where they meet is as if a meeting ground of heaven upon earth. Such indeed is the deeper meaning of this meeting and this significant symbol is already being revealed to us through the scene where the two must meet. It is at His doors that Aswapati has reached hesitating to enter. He has to choose between a complete annulment of all that he has been and is and ever could be or else to be reborn and remade and return from the tremendous threshold of extinction with a new mind and new life. The mind cannot know or define it. In its effort to experience it may well be dissolved in it, or else be newfound and transformed into the ‘Mind of God’.
Between the age of eighteen and twenty I had attained a conscious and constant union with the divine Presence and that I had done it all alone.
