Refining and Strengthening the Child’s Nature

The vital needs to be both refined and strengthened. Art, music, poetry are some of the ways of refining the vital. On the other hand, exercise, sports, games, deep breathing methods help strengthen the vital. Additionally, stories that inspire and instill values of courage, valour, heroism, sacrifice help the vital get the right direction. All these must be incorporated in the education of a child.

The Kshatriya child is generally a natural leader. He loves adventure and activities that need courage and strength. Such a child does not tolerate injustice and is often marked by rebellious tendencies.  He loves new challenges and brings out his innate abilities during moments of crisis.

A child with Brahminic tendencies is a seeker after knowledge. He loves to learn and goes into the depths of things. Generally, such children are endowed with very good memory and are understanding things very quickly. They use reason to help them move through life and prefer duty over personal ambitions, sacrifice one’s success for deeper wisdom. They are also generally religious by temperament.

The Vaishya is marked by an inborn sense of beauty and harmony and the circulation of things. They have an inborn temperament for business.  The Shudra type is marked by deft handling of objects and equipment. They are generally very good with their hands.

But now we hardly find any of these pure types due to mixtures, following interbreeding. Besides, Nature now wants to create a new type that would have within them all the fourfold powers of the soul.
