GUIDANCE FROM SRI AUROBINDO: Sri Aurobindo’s Letters to Nagin Doshi

Guidance from Sri Aurobindo

Nagin Doshi came to Sri Aurobindo Ashram in 1931 when he was 14 and, in own words, “with the full realisation that I could not possibly live, either happily or unhappily, without the Mother and Sri Aurobindo .” That was the beginning of a long journey of self-discovery, self-development and self-surrender to his chosen Gurus.

In his own words, “Till 1933 I did not know what this strange thing called Yoga was. Hence the Mother and Sri Aurobindo were to me just like my own human mother and father. When the correspondence with Sri Aurobindo started, he had to teach me everything, not only what was meant by Yoga but also what culture, religion, philosophy and morality were. He used to correct my English, too, for quite a long time.” – Nagin Doshi

The three volumes of letters from Sri Aurobindo to Nagin brought out by Sri Aurobindo Society in 1974 (Vol.I) and Sri Aurobindo Ashram in 1976 and 1987 (Vols.II, III) show us how closely Sri Aurobindo followed and how carefully shaped the growing boy to be his instrument and field.

Guidance from Sri Aurobindo Vol. 2 (1935)

Guidance from Sri Aurobindo Vol. 3 (1936-1937)
