At the Feet of The Mother

The Seal of Love, pp. 398-399 & Closing Remarks for the Canto II

Opening Remarks
The seal and stamp of love have now been laid upon the lives of Satyavan and Savitri.

Knew each other
These knew each other though in forms thus strange.

Savitri and Satyavan recognised each other inwardly even though the forms were new.

Spirit to the spirit
Although to sight unknown, though life and mind
Had altered to hold a new significance,
These bodies summed the drift of numberless births,
And the spirit to the spirit was the same.

Although they were meeting as strangers in this life and a new significance was given to their togetherness, yet their bodies held the drift of many births. It was a journey engraved in their souls that knew each other through lives.

Together drawn by Fate
Amazed by a joy for which they had waited long,
The lovers met upon their different paths,
Travellers across the limitless plains of Time
Together drawn from fate-led journeyings
In the self-closed solitude of their human past,
To a swift rapturous dream of future joy
And the unexpected present of these eyes.

The lovers met while traversing different paths and rejoiced at each other’s sight. Travelers across large spaces of time as all souls are, they were drawn together by Fate in the solitude that held their past as well as dreams of the future and the gift of the present. It is a soul moment when the past, present and the future come together as if in a linked significance.

Spirit’s memory
By the revealing greatness of a look,
Form-smitten the spirit’s memory woke in sense.

Their gaze had suddenly opened the doors of their soul memories held deep within.

Mist was torn
The mist was torn that lay between two lives;
Her heart unveiled and his to find her turned;
Attracted as in heaven star by star,
They wondered at each other and rejoiced
And wove affinity in a silent gaze.
A moment passed that was eternity’s ray,
An hour began, the matrix of new Time.

The mist of unconsciousness that lies between two lives was torn as they unveiled their heart to each other. Attracted to each other as star to star they wondered and rejoiced and felt a secret affinity silently tie them together. That moment when they looked upon each other from the window of their soul was an eternal moment. A new hour had begun carrying on wings of Time a new future.

Closing Remarks
Thus Savitri and Satyavan begin a new journey together in a new body though known to each other through lives.

Closing Remarks for the Canto
This Canto began with the fate led meeting of Savitri and Satyavan and closes with love being born between them. It is not the first time they are together. They come from age to age in different bodies to work out the mission for which their lives are made.
